why i patch
I established i patch soon after my daughter was diagnosed with amblyopia. We were told that she would have to wear a patch every day for several years. Anticipating difficulty with an adhesive patch, I asked the doctor if my daughter could wear a "pirate" style patch instead of an adhesive patch. His affirmative response and the raw skin around my little girl’s eye after only one day motivated me to design a more suitable patch.
I was determined to make this daily regimen easy for my daughter and stress free for our entire family. Now, she has dozens of patches and enjoys choosing which one to wear each day. Patching has become a game; in fact, she sometimes wants to keep her patch on longer than the required number of hours!
These colorful patches have also helped her to take responsibility for her patching, and she can’t wait to show off new designs to her friends. Since then, I have also designed patches for children who wear glasses.
